Filet Crochet Basics
Filet Crochet is great for beginners and it is rather simple to master. Filet crochet patterns are made up of open meshes and solid meshes. The concept is easy!
There are different methods. Here are links below to web sites that teach how to filet crochet:
- Filet Crochet Basics at SmartCrochet.com
- How to Get Started in Filet Crochet at AboutCrochet.com
- Filet Crochet Beyond the Basics at CrochetMagazine.com
I use this formula:
Open mesh = 1dc + 2ch + 1dc
Solid (closed) mesh = 4dc
Once you have mastered the concept of filet crochet, you can create your own designs using plain graph paper. You can also use any cross-stitch or needlepoint chart and turn it into a wonderful crochet filet piece. The possibilities are endless. Create an alphabet sampler, a birth or wedding announcement, a scenery, florals, animals... etc.
Once your filet crochet piece is finished, the final touch will be the choice of a fine border to turn it into a masterpiece.
